Is it true that people of Belgium are considered as fools of Europe? I visited Belgium and found people very nice. Frankly speaking when I first heard about this phrase I was offended as I liked everything about that country.
What is the origin / basis of this remark about Belgium? Is it really significant?

That is truly ludicrous. When people generalize about whatever, it actually denotes ignorance.
But when someone generalizes about a whole nation, especially about a country like Belgium, then this one has some serious issues.

Belgium, this is one superb, though very small country, with a huge variaty of people, things to do, culture and food. I like it, and like the people too. I have visited Belgium four times; the first time was for business but the other three were just because I liked it so damn much the first time.

Can’t really understand the question..it’s logical that mentioned kind of people can find anywhere. I can say many good words for Belgium, and know many people at Lokeren.

As far as I know Belgium people are considered fools by French and Dutch.

If anyone can be considered as fools, as far as Europe is concerned, then they are the Balkan countries! They are in a perpetual conflict with each other and if they weren’t located in Europe, they would’ve probably killed themselves by now!

I have herd of this and it seems like a pretty funny assumption! There is no such thing as fools on a national level! I mean, where does people come up with these stuff?!
There might be individuals who can be considered as fools, but considering every Belgian as a fool is quite stupid!
