Beautiful area in southern Ireland?

My friend and I are planning trip to Ireland. We’re planning to fly into Dublin and take a five-day tour of southern Ireland, but then we’d like to spend a few days in one beautiful area. We’d prefer a country setting, but one that is still alive at night for us to check out a pub and mingle with the locals. Any ideas?

Doolin is the perfect choice for you. Doolin has plenty of pubs to spend some time in and good selection of nice restaurants. I think this place will satisfy your requirements.

Perhaps it’s because I have just returned from a short trip there but I found Limerick to be a lovely city (feels very much like a town) everyone was super friendly, I felt quite at home, and there were loads of pubs to occupy us!

What month do you plan on being here? A trip to the Aran Islands would be lovely. I love the pubs on Inis Mór, very intimate and traditional.

The ring of Kerry is your best bet. Its a coastal road that winds around the beautiful coastline of Kerry and West Cork. On your way you will experience gorgeous scenery with loads of places to stop along the way like secluded beaches, rolling hills, great coastal features and mountain passes. Then when you arrive in Killarney you have a beautiful national park and lakes and wonderful mountains. If you get nice weather it is unbeatable. Galway is nice too but it does not have the variety that West Cork and Kerry offer.

Croke Park, Wicklow Jail and Kilmanen Jail are great things to see.
You could go down to Cork and See the Blarney Stone. The myth is I you kiss it you’ll never shut up!
For the scenery I like the Wicklow mountains.
Also in Wicklow, are the Sugarloaf mountains. They’re very beautiful too. http://www.lookaroundireland.com/counties/wicklow/sugarloaf.htm
A town in Kerry (the South of Ireland, It’s beside Cork too) called Tralee is very touristy. It is the largest town in Ireland.
It has many attractions and loads of shops and a great night life.
It’s great for young people and people with small families. It suits everyone.
It has an aqua dome swimming pool which is always packed and outside the pool, You can play crazy Golf.
Here is a site on Tralee: http://www.tralee-insight.com/

    Have a look at http://www.discoverdunmore.com
I always recommend Ennis as a good non touristised Touring base for the whole of County Clare not just the usual Burren and Cliffs. http://www.visitennis.ie/
Most people think of Eire as a gentle place of rolling green hills and soft rain, famed for its world class golf courses, its fishing and its Guinness, populated by a warm and generous people, happy to welcome visitors. And they’re right; Eire is that, and thats’ why is my favorite – http://www.holidayinbritain.com/Regions/Southern-Ireland.aspx
