You can take buses or trains. The fastest train will be about 40 minutes and the slowest one will be an hour. Buses take as long as the slowest train. The faster you arrive the more the cost, with about 14euro for the local train and over 25 for the Pendolino.
I suggest taking a train and purchasing a Perhelippu if you’re with children, since this ticket means that each adult gets to bring a child for free.
The train station will leave you about 10 minutes away from Lahti’s center.
