Place away from the center in Hamburg

I’m traveling in Poland next month and I’ll be spending a week in Hamburg. I heard it’s a great city, but I don’t know it very well and I find it hard to find some information. Does anyone know which hotel to stay, nice clubs, where to eat, where to shop… (I’m not really interested in commercial center, I want to be in a place away from the center).
